APFIR
The Asia-Pacific Federation of Inflammation and Regeneration

It is our pleasure to announce the establishment of Asian-Pacific Federation of Inflammation and Regeneration (APFIR) to promote research in Inflammation and Regenerative Medicine in Asia and Oceania, promote collaboration among researchers in these areas, provide training courses to young investigators, and establish society related to Inflammation and Regenerative Medicine in each country/region.

There is/will be no conflict between APFIR and IAIS (International Association of Inflammation Societies). APFIR will cooperate with IAIS to facilitate the above activities, which will eventually strengthen IAIS. The idea of the establishment of APFIR is based on the great success of 9th World Congress on Inflammation in 2009 in Tokyo, where many of Asian and Pacific delegates attended.

The first three years, Joint Annual Meeting of JSIR and APFIR will be held in Japan every summer (next year, it will be organized by Prof. Toshikazu Yoshikawa at Kyoto International Conference Center, Kyoto, June 2nd-3rd). Main symposia and APIR/JSIR joint symposia will be held in English. Following day of the joint Annual Meeting, one day Summer School will be held for the training of young investigators from Asian and Pacific countries, to whom travel fund is available on the condition that the applicants will submit abstracts to the Joint Annual Meeting and present orally in the session of APFIR Young Investigator Symposium.

Scholarship/travel support to young investigators (discounted economy ticket, exemption from registration fee and 4 nights accommodation) will be selected by APFIR representatives.

In addition, Online Official journal of JSIR and APFIR, Inflammation and Regeneration (Editor in Chief:Hideyuki Okano and Associate Editor: Tsuguyo Mimori) which is linked with J-STAGE will be launched from Jan. 2011. The policy of this journal is free access and free download of any part of the journal to be internationally recognized high quality journal. 6 volumes/year without printed issues will be published, with immediate upload on line after the acceptance of the studies. This is a really exciting challenge to us. We appreciate your submission of original papers as well as review articles to this journal.

The founding members are 8 societies/groups listed below. We will further invite all Inflammation and Regenerative Medicine related societies in Asia and Oceania to join APFIR.
